Police call for witnesses after serious crash and assault in York


Two men were seriously injured in an assault after a crash in Haxby outside the Tiger Inn. The incident took place at around 10pm on Saturday evening. The crash is perceived to be a failure to stop crash followed by a voilent assault. 

North Yorkshire police have stated, It appears a white transit flat bed van overtook a white Seat Ibiza car and came to stop, which led to a collision of the vehicles. A grey Peugeot car travelling behind was also involved in the crash.  

Both passengers in the Seat where injured with a 19 year old passeneger in the Seat suffering a head injury after being assaulted after the crash had taken place. He was then taken to York Hospital and discharged himself later at 01:10am

The police spokesman said the driver of the Peugeot left the vehicle at the scene, and got into the Transit, which then drove off towards Wigginton.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the flat-bed van and its occupants, and anyone who saw the incident is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 12160150867.
