Former York teacher named as death crash victim on the A19

Sonia Oldtree Rose, 83 a mother of four and grandmother of three has been named. She was involved in a crash on the A19 on September the 30th. Sonia who was a very active lady had been on her way to meet one of her social meeting walking groups. 

Sonia has been named as an inspirational history teach who taught a Fulford school for over 20 years. She later became head of careers and served as an active member of many environmental associations in York. 

Sonia was born in Bradford and spent 15 years of her life living in Thirsk where she was an active member of the Woodlands group. 

he was described as a ''friend to many and an individual of great character.

A celebration of her life has been planned for Saturday, November 26, at the Hospitium, Museum Gardens, York from 1pm to 5pm.

It is thought that many of her former students will attend.
