97% customer satisfaction for TransPennine but ticket fares are too high

TransPennine Xpress can now boast of a 97% customer satisfaction rate as new figures have been released from Autumn 2015. The service runs through Selby everyday connecting Hull to Manchester, generally stopping via South Milford, Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester. 95% of passengers were satisfied with the reliability and punctuality of the service. This compares to lowest rail franchise of South West Trains whose customer satisfaction poles at 79%

However these results are only based on a small proportionate of rail goers so customers are right to question the findings. Nationally Transpennine Express now have the highest customer satisfaction rate however only 69% of rail customers questioned were satisfied with the cost of their tickets. Rail fares have soared in recent years rising faster than wages and inflation. Over one quarter and nearly one third of customers find ticket prices to be too high.
