It was supposed to be a relaxing holiday for the keen travellers Bruce Wilkson 72 and his wife Rita from Goole, East Yorkshire. However tragically Bruce has been named as one of the 38 victims who were killed at the Imperial Mahaba hotel in Sousse on the South Coast of Tunis. Bruce Wilkinson was a well known man across the town of Goole having driven ambulances for a number of years and working at Drax power station near Selby.

Bruce and his wife Rita were caught up in the attack which was carried out by Seiffeddine Rezqui, a 23 year old aviation engineering student from Gaafour, 50 miles south West of Tunis. Rezqui has been described as a normal man who had a love of football and dancing. His Facebook posts however have uncovered several posts supporting Isis since January 2015.  Rezqui was shot by Tunis police approximately 1 hour after the attack.

Bruce is the second person to be named from our region following Claire Windass, 54 from Hull, who was killed on the beach, her husband Jim escaped the open fire on the resort in Sousse. 24-year-old Carly Lovett, from Gainsborough Lincolnshire was also killed in the attack.

Home secretary Teresa May has today held a second cobra meeting at the foreign office, families of unlocated victims have been told to prepare for the worst! Britain is now in its highest alert for a similar style terrorist attack. People are being advised to be extra vigilant especially in tourist hotspots across the UK.
