Tomorrow Night Cara Dillion performs in Selby

Cara Dillon

Friday, 20th February 2015

Doors Open: 7.30pm   Show Starts at: 8.00pm

Cara Dillon has one of those rare talents you only come across a handful times in your whole life. One of the finest exponents of traditional Irish song anywhere in the world, her staggeringly beautiful voice has the ability to reach inside the soul of a song and imbue material not only with profound sweetness but also poignancy and depth.

Having won the All Ireland Traditional Singing Trophy aged only 14, Cara went on to sing with Oige, De Dannan and then Equation, where she met her husband and musical collaborator Sam Lakeman (brother of Mercury nominated folk rocker Seth). The combination of Cara's expressive vocals and Sam’s rippling piano and fresh production squeezed new life into ancient material.

The duo have won every folk award going (BBC Radio 2, Spiral Earth, Meteor), but make music which reaches far beyond the constraints and limitations of tradition. Signed to Warners imprint Blanco Y Negro aged 19, Cara has gone one to release five solo records on Rough Trade and now Sony, gathering both critical acclaim and commercial success with her captivating and emotive performances.

Cara will be supported by Holly Taymar and Chris Bilton aka The Bronze
