Christmas lights switch on today


Memo from Selby town council; Christmas Market and Christmas Lights Switch On - Saturday 28 November on the Market Place. Over 40 stalls with the market open 9am - 5pm. Entertainment from 10am - 4.30pm including school choirs, Abbey Belles, Fairburn Singers, Japanese Drummers, Minster FM and lots more. Minster FM radio will be in the market square playing festiva tunes.

The Mayor switches on the lights at 4pm followed by Carols with Knottingley Silver Band. Carol sheets will be handed out for everyone to join singing the well known Carols. Thanks to Campeys of Selby for providing the stage, Hunters Estate Agents, LA Blinds, Rooms for All, Finishing touches Interiors and William H Brown for sponsoring the lights along Finkle Street and Micklegate this year. The winning "Best Dressed Window" will be announced at 3.45pm by the Mayor, Cllr Gavin Harding MBE.
