(Via York Press) A seven year old boy has been seriously injured in a road accident in Selby.

North Yorkshire Police have reported that there was a pedestrian collision, which involved a silver car, happened on Barlby Road at about 3.25pm today.

The Toll Bridge a major route in Selby is now closed,

Police officers are examining the scene and have been seen taking photographs of what appears to be a light-coloured Ford car and a Citroen minivan. A number of officers have also been conducting house-to-house enquiries amongst nearby homes.

"An ambulance transported the boy toYork Hospital with serious injuries," said a force spokesman.

"Local diversions are currently in place while the police investigate the collision scene."

This comes after a local mother from Selby spoke on Yorks Minster Fm only last week warning school children to pay attention whilst crossing the regions roads after nearly two collisions whilst she was travelling near Westbourne Road in Selby.

We wish the boy a full recovery.

Witnesses have been urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room, quoting reference NYP-19012015-0276.
