York Women dies on A63 near Selby due to careless drink driver

A women died at 8.45pm on 11th May on her way to York following a crash on the A63.

The woman was 60 years old from York. She was driving a white Kia Picanto. The crash happened near Cliffe when her car and a blue BMW 3 Series travelling in the opposite direction collided.

The woman sadly suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

North Yorkshire Police have stated a 25-year-old man driving the other vehicle a BMW was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving he remains in police custody for questioning.

Our thoughts are with the woman family at this devastating time. Officers have urged anyone in the area or travelling on the A63 who witnessed the crash or either vehicle prior to the collision to contact them on telephone number 101.
