Selby named as Host Town for Tour De Yorkshire 2019

Selby will be a host town in the Tour De Yorkshire 2019 event. It will coincide with the towns 950th anniversary of the Selby Abbey.

Race organisers have said they are delighted that the historic town will play an important role in next years event. The event will work well with it being the abbeys 950th birthday. The event is expected to boost the local economy and see thousands of extra visitors and tourists visit and potentially stay in the town and local area.

News comes after global tourist numbers to Selby Abbey have being surging in recent years due to a spate of well known Asian celebrities hosting their weddings in the magnificent Abbey.

The council and town were thrilled after the success of hosting the 2015 Tour De Yorkshire.
